Memory Walk 2018

IMG_9941

The Alzheimers Society is a charity that is very close to mine and my families hearts so this year I decided to take park in Memory Walk; a 7km walk to help raise money for such a great charity.

I walked in memory of my nan who sadly passed away a few years ago and it was one of the most emotional things I have ever done. I arrived and walked my way down to the start line to wait for my aunt who was meeting me there so we could walk together. I hadn’t done anything like this before so didn’t really know what to expect but I was so blown away and overwhelmed by the love and strength of everyone there. I was so eye opening to see how many people this horrible disease has affected in some way or another.

The walk itself was great, people bought their dogs and it was interesting to see who people were walking for. Crossing the finish line was such an achievement and I was overcome with such a strong feeling of pride for myself and everyone else; knowing that we were working together to make a difference.

There is still time to donate if you are interested and every little does to help find a cure for this life changing illness. Also – check on the website to show your interest; I already know I will be walking it again.

Thanks to my Auntie Jemma was keeping me going throughout the walk and for trying to encourage me to do even more haha. If you would like to donate, here is a link to my JustGiving page

  1. Great post Hannah, it’s lovely that you got to share that walk with your aunt. I love these charity walks because sometimes when you’re going through a hard time with your family battling a disease it can sometimes feel like you’re the only one going through it but this just reiterates that there is many people experiencing the same struggle and can really understand what you’re going through so I love that you can all come together for one of these events to walk in solidarity to try and help raise awareness & funds. x
