I absolutely looooove going to blogger events, probably because making new blogger friends is one of my favourite things to do. Last Thursday, I was kindly invited down to spend the evening at Layer Marney Tower to celebrate the launch of the South East Bloggers Club.
The minute I arrived, I was blown away with the venue, a historic tower situated in the Essex countryside; it was perfect! At the door, we were greeted by the lovely girls behind the SEBC along with various drinks from prosecco to milkshakes and a lovely goodie bag filled with information about all the local brands that were at the event.
Each brand had their own space so it meant you could spend ages chatting and getting to know them and it was great to see how interested they were in our blogs and how much they valued building a relationship. The range of businesses there was amazing too including Betty Booths photo booths, Perrywood Garden Centre and Secret Hamper so there was a real mixture of people to talk to, which was great.
I loved chatting to and networking with local businesses including some local charities like Brainwave; I even had my first bit of Christmas pudding; thanks to Lillypuds. It was so great to be surrounded by so many positive, creative people and to finally celebrate the launch of the SEBC. I can’t wait to see what you girls have up your sleeve, but I’m so glad to be a part it; thanks for the best evening.
I’ve been a little MIA for the past couple of weeks, for a number of different reasons but I’m so ready to get back into the blogging world because I have honestly missed it so much.
Recently, Lush released their new Jelly face masks so being the face mask advocate I am, I had to try them out. I picked up ‘Bunny Moon’ because it contains honey and camomile which is known for leaving your skin really soft and calm.
I didn’t really know what to expect as most of the face masks I use are charcoal ones but I was really excited to see what the jelly like consistency would be like. As soon as I opened the pot, I knew I’d love it; it smelt so fresh and sweet and had little gold flexes of glitter on the top.
The consistency really wasn’t what I expected at all, I thought it would be more like a runny gloop but the best way to describe it is like a chocolate mousse; which was a lot better because it made applying it a lot easier. Like with all Lush products, a little goes a long way; which is great because it means it’s going to last a lot longer and I usually apply my face masks after I have come out of the shower so my face is still a little damp as it makes it easier to spread around.
Washing the mask off was a little bit of a pain because I found that it sometimes clumps together but the end results are well worth the extra little bit of time. The mask always leaves my skin feeling so soft and super clean and I’m so desperate to give the others a try because I’m sure I will love them just as much as Bunny Moon.
Have you tried any other the Lush Jelly Face Masks?
To say I love Lush is the biggest understatement; as I’m sure you know from the amount of Lush themed posts I have. The other weekend me and mum went to the Oxford St. store to have a treatment called ‘The Good Hour’. I don’t want to give anything away but let me just say, it definitely lived up to it’s name.
Our treatment was a themed, 70 minute full body massage and it was the most amazing experience of my life. We arrived at the Spa and was greeted by the lovely Frankie and Emma who sat us down and told us all about the treatment and the products that would be used. It was great because we were able to say if there were any specific areas that we wanted them to focus on; to which I said the top of my back because I’ve been quite tense/stressed lately. We were then led down a cosy, dimly lit hallway to the different treatment rooms.
Once inside we were given a moment to get undressed and ready under the towel before ringing a bell to allow the treatment to begin. Now, as I said, I’m not going to ruin it by going in to a lot of details (although I’m sure you all know how a full body massage works) but the next 70 minutes were pure heaven. I completely zoned out and forgot that I was in a store on Oxford Street. It was so peaceful and tranquil and I didn’t want it to end. From the minute me and mum got up, I’m pretty sure the only thing we managed to say was ‘Oh my god’ because we were so relaxed!
Once we got dressed, we made our way back out into the kitchen area where there was a giant wooden table full of flowers and products and a little lounge area where there was a table with two cups of tea waiting for us. We sat there for a while basking in the atmosphere while talking to a lady who had just come out of a facial (which I think is going to be my next treatment)
Honestly, I couldn’t recommend the Lush spa enough, I came way feeling so happy and relaxed. I’m already planning my next trip. Also a huge thank you to Frankie and Emma for making me and mum feel so comfortable and welcome.
After a busy day at work, the first thing I do when I get home is get my pyjamas on and open my laptop to binge watch Netflix for hours, while scrolling endlessly through social media. (I’ve actually got Netflix on in the back ground on while I’m writing this)
It’s so easy to waste time and procrastinate instead of seizing each minute and living life fully. To celebrate their new campaign ‘Flights Quicker Than‘; Monarch Arlines have challenged me to spend less time sitting in front of a screen and spend that time doing something I’ve always wanted to do but ‘never have time for’. For a week, I made a conscious effort to do the things I’ve always wanted.
I normally make Sundays my pamper night, where I have a Lush bath and do a face mask and just relax myself before the week starts but last week I think I had about 3 pamper nights, which is definitely something I’m going to do more often. Little things like that really make you feel better and out you in a much better mindset.
Getting Lost in a Book
I don’t read, and it’s something that I always say I want to get in to. I love the idea of spending a few hours getting lost in a story and letting your imagination run wild. I recently purchased an illustrated version of my favourite story; Peter Pan and I finally started reading it. It was so nice to switch off in the evenings and let my mind wander.
I have a Photography Degree but the amount of time that I spend taking pictures has seriously decreased. I flicked through my favourite photography book to get some inspo and one night after work, I went around with my polaroid camera to take some photographs. I love how happy it makes me and its something I need to spend more time doing.
After working out how many hours a day I actually waste binge watching ‘How to Get Away with Murder’; Monarch calculated where I could have gone on holiday and it’s pretty amazing.
I’m not reconsidering how I spend my time because I realise, I waste so much. I’m also now desperate to fly somewhere. If you want to see where you could fly to with all the time you procrastinate, you can here.
I’ve been home from holiday for about 2 weeks now (still so sad to be home) and I’d like to think I still have some form of a tan; especially seeing as I have been making a conscious effort to up my skin care routine.
I’ve found a new love for body scrubs, a step that I used to miss out completely. It’s good to exfoliate to remove any dead skin to keep your body feeling nice and soft. My ‘go to’ scrubs at the minute have been Lush’s Cup o’ Coffee and Zoella’s Scrubbing Me Softly body scrub.
Once I am out of the bath, I make sure to moisturise my skin to keep it hydrated. I used to be quite lazy with moisturising but since coming home from holiday, I have made much more of an effort to do it. I’ve been using a lot of body butters lately as I feel that they give my skin a lot more hydration and the one I have been loving the most is the coconut one from DermaV10; it literally smells like holiday.
What is your post holiday skincare routine?
I had the best holiday to Lanzarote with my two best friends and one of the highlights was spending the evenings getting ready to go out for the night. Obviously, we couldn’t get dressed up without taking a few pictures on the balcony so here is my Lanzarote style diary.
What are your go to holiday styles?
– Hannah X
Summer means one thing, holiday and as you’re reading this, I am on the way to Lanzarote with my best friends! I am the biggest over packer ever, (seriously, if you saw my case, you’d think I was going away for a month not a week) so I thought I’d share my hand luggage must haves.
- Phone and Headphone
I get bored pretty quickly on flights so a good playlist and a few games to keep me entertained is a must – literally a child
Holiday is pretty much the only time that I read so I always carry a book in my hand luggage

The most important things!
