I am currently suffering with the worst holiday blues after returning from a city break to Lisbon with Jack. I had been excited for this trip from the minute I booked it and it didn’t disappoint and we have already decided that we need to go back to explore all the little gems that we missed because Lisbon is full of them!
This was both our first time in Portugal so we didn’t really know what to expect but I definitely think it is up there with one of my favourite countries I have been too; from the little tiled streets to the grand plazas overlooking the river; it was all perfect!
We had a morning flight so we go to the airport with plenty of time to get some breakfast and we were also in a prime spot to see President Trump fly in on Air Force 1 which was pretty cool; even if it was Trump. We arrived to our hotel and it was perfect, very cosy and had a great view of the mountains but we didn’t even stop to unpack because we wanted to get out and explore straight away. We walked around Praca do Comercio, soaked in the views of 25 de Abril Bridge and grabbed a lovely dinner in the Beer Museum before getting an early night to prepare for our first full day.
None of the days had clear agendas but we knew we wanted to go to the aquarium so we decided to do this first so we made sure we done it. From Praca do Comercio, we got the 728 bus straight to the aquarium which was only about 20 minutes away and spent the next few hours looking at all the fishes and the cutest fluffy sea otters. As we headed back it started to rain so we did what the whole of Lisbon decided to do and went to see the famous Time Out Market. The market was amazing, you could get any kind of food you want but you might have a hard time finding a seat. We opted for a pastel de nata from Manteigaria which we heard about from our favourite food show ‘Somebody Feed Phil’. I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing they were, definitely the best I had while we were there. Once the sun came out again, we wondered up to Castelo de S. Jorge and took in some of the best views I have ever seen!
You can’t go to Lisbon without going to see the Belem Tower so this is what we did on day 3. Again, we got the bus from the main square and travelled about 25 minutes in the other direction from the aquarium, I feel like I am a pro at the Lisbon public transport! We went straight to the Tower and it was stunning, there was even a man playing Disney songs on his violin which just made it so much more special. We then took a stroll through to Belem Town and soaked up the sun in the gardens before heading back towards the hotel. Of course we found a bar so we sat outside in the sun enjoying the sun. We went for dinner and the strolled down the cobbled streets with an ice cream and macaroons and it was perfect.
Our last full day was very bitter sweet; we headed over the river to climb to the top of Cristo Rei which gave the most amazing view of Lisbon and made me feel like I was in San Fransisco which is number 1 on my bucket list so I was a happy bunny. We then headed back down and popped to Ponto Final Restaurant for a drink before heading back to the ferry. Of course as it was our last day it rained so we used this to do a bit of shopping before heading back to the hotel to chill before going out for our last dinner.
The saddest day as we were heading home. We had a afternoon flight so checked out and headed straight to the airport. I would have given anything to get off the plane and stay in Lisbon as it has become one of my favourite cities as now has a special place in my heart.
Unless you have been living under a rock, you will know that Fenty Beauty was launched in Boots here in the UK and to celebrate the launch, I was kindly invited down to my local Boots at Intu Lakeside to see the collection and test out the products.
The Boots at Intu Lakeside has recently had a makeover so as well as seeing the Fenty collection, we were also there to see the new store layout; which can I say was amazing.
We were shown around the store by the loveliest lady called Dee who took us to literally every counter so we could see what product they had and test the out. It was great because Boots have recently launched some new brands in store including Becca and It Cosmetics so it was a fab way to try out some new products that I hadn’t seen before.
After seeing all of the other brands, it was then tine to drool over Fenty which j was so excited for. They showed us some of the newer pieces as well as the much loved classics and honestly I was blown away with the amount of shades of foundation there was, literally something for every skin tone and type.
I must admit I was a bit reluctant about trying the Fenty foundation as it is matte and I had quite dry skin so I always assumed it would just cake itself on and stick to all the dry patches. I was kindly colour matched by one of the girls who then proceeded to give me a full make over with all of the Fenty line which was so generous and kind. I am still wearing it now as I am writing this and it feels amazing. It’s been about 4 hours and it doesn’t feel cakey or heavy at all which is definitely what I thought it would do. The colour matches my skin tone perfectly and completely cancels out my pink undertones.
As we we’re leaving we were also gifted with a lovely goody bag full of products from the brands that are stocked in Boots and honestly I am blown away by the generosity of it and I can’t wait to get stuck in to some of the products.
Thank you Boots and Intu Lakeside for having me and showing me around the new store. It’s stunning and you made me feel so special and welcome.
I haven’t done a favourites post in such a long time and there are a few products I have been loving so I thought I would switch it up and show you a few of the in a mid months post.
- Radiance Perfection Vitamin C Serum – IK have lost count the amount of times this has featured on here and Instagram but it’s just that good. I feel like it keeps my skin looking healthy and really sits well under my foundation which amazing. A little bit goes such a long way so I know the bottle that I have is going to last a long time
2. No. 7 Stay Perfect Foundation – I have been obsessed with this foundation for years now but haven’t really shared my love for it in a long time. It’s the one foundation I always go back to because the colour is perfect on me and it lasts all day. It also looks so good in photos which is something that I always look for too.
3. Freedom Bro Duo Powder – I much prefer using a powder to fill in my brows because I always think that looks the most natural and the one I have been loving the most is by Freedom. You get 2 powders in each compact and the ones I use and alternate between are Auburn and Medium Brown (this one) and they are great; my brows look so good throughout the day.
4. Red Cherry Lashes * – Don’t really wear false lashes too much unless I am going out out but I have been loving these natural everyday lashes from Red Cherry. These were kindly gifted to me and I am so glad they were because they are great for completing the perfect spring time look. The go on so easily, especially with the help of the special applicator. You can pick up your own here: https://falseeyelashes.co.uk

I love perfumes and body sprays and I am always on the hunt for new ones to add to my collection. My latest one was actually a present from one of my best friends; Amy and it’s so good that I have to tell you about it.
Introducing Mimosa and Bergamot spray from Marks and Spencer!
I usually lean more towards fruity, sweet perfumes but I can’t resist this scent. It’s a bit muskier but still contains floral notes from the Mimosa and can still be classed as a ‘girlier fragrance’:
Notes of bergamot zest, mimosa petals and soft musk
The spray itself is actually only a eau de toilette but it lasts so long so I don’t have to continuously top it up throughout the day but its also the perfect handbag size for the days I am out longer and do want to have a little extra spritz.
Every time I wear this I get so many compliments and can’t wait to rave about it to whoever asks what is it. I am also obsessed with the bottle/box design; its a gorgeous peachy colour with leaves all over it which looks beautiful sitting along my other bottles and makes for the nicest blog photos if I do say so myself.
Marks and Spencer to do many other scents and now that I have tried this, I am on a mission to add more to my collection because they really are the perfect every day smells, so elegant and feminine.
The first few days of April weren’t my best, I hit a pretty bad place with my mental health but it made me think about my life and all the little moments that make everyday so special.
Every day has good and bad moments and I am the worst at sometimes focusing on the negative and getting myself into moods because of it. This is something I definitely need to work on because I spend so long feeling down that I blink and the day is over and I’ve lost.
I’ve seen people, especially on Twitter, create threads where they jot down exciting things they have been ding each day but what I love to do is film it. Since the start of January, I have been using the app 1SE to document literally 1 second everyday. The app is so great because it really makes you stop and take time out to record what you have done each day, even if you think it’s not that exciting. I love it because it puts it into a montage so at the end of every month, I post my little 30 second video to my Instagram so it is always there for me to go back to and I’ll do the same on the last day of the year so I can see exactly how 2019 has been.
As a photography graduate, I love recording moments through creative mediums like photos and videos so this is something I have really been enjoying and it helps me stay positive and focused, even on the darker days.
Feel free to head over to my Instagram (@hannahmoggridge) to see what I have been getting up to over the last 4 months and keep an eye out for the next 8!
The 2 words that make every woman squirm; ‘smear test’.
Growing up, I dreaded the day I hit 25 because I knew it would mean having a cervical cancer screening or a smear test. You hear so much negativity about how it’s painful or uncomfortable and the amount of woman getting them is at an all time low and to be honest I can’t blame them. The thought of laying on a bed, naked from the waist down having a stranger investigate you is a daunting experience and one that I wanted to put off forever.
In the Uk, you receive a letter inviting you for a screening and once you have had it done, you don’t have to re-do it for another 3 years. I received my letters; yes I had received 2 before I did it; last summer and immediately folded them back up and hid them. Out of sight, out of mind and all that. Fast forward to last Monday and I was on the phone to my GP’s booking an appointment. I don’t know what came over me but I finally plucked up the courage to have it done in the week and I wanted to share my experience because I genuinely do believe there needs to be a bigger conversation about it because they can literally save lives and really aren’t as bad as everyone thinks.
So flashback to Wednesday, I arrived at the doctors and followed the nurse down the corridor into the room. There it all was; the form of questions, the bed, the curtain and the swab. Trust me, if I could have left at that moment I would have. The nurse was so lovely, she sat me down and went through a few questions about my last period and when I received my letter etc. She then explained what was going to happen and took me through the curtain so I could get unchanged and in place.
Sitting with your ankles together and your knees apart is never a good look for anyone but believe me when I say nurses do this every day and they genuinely don’t care what it looks like, they are just there to do their job. I’ll be honest, I am the biggest wuss and have no pain tolerance at all so I was expecting the worst. I’d be lying if I said you couldn’t feel anything but it was about a 1.5/10 and it was more discomfort than pain as you could feel the bristles of the swab but that was it. I couldn’t believe how quickly it was over.
The results usually get sent to your home about 2 weeks later. It’s really that easy. I think I was in the room for about 5/10 minutes and most of that time was spent not being prodded; so please, if you haven’t and are of the right age go and get your smear test done. I felt so proud after and it is there to potentially save your life and stop anything cell changes becoming too nasty.
If I can do it, then you definitely can.

I can’t believe the change in weather. Please can it be hot all year round England, my skin needs some vitamin C. Speaking of vitamin C, I have recently been using the Radiance Perfecting Serum from PearlEssence and been loving it.
Vitamin C is great for the skin because it has anti ageing properties and works to brighten and smooth the skin. Working in the city, it is also great because it helps protect against environmental damage.
I use the serum twice a day; right before I moisturise and all I can say is wow. It sinks into my skin but doesn’t feel like its clogging my pores which is great because my skin is so sensitive and even the slightest difference in my usual routine can give me an outbreak that last for days. I find that my make also looks a lot better now that I have introduced this into my routine and I am just completely obsessed.
Pearlessense also do so many other products which I am definitely am going to try because if they are anything like this then I need them in my life.
Being a lover of anything beauty related, I think it is fair to say I have tried a lot of products in my time but there are always those that are my holy grails and items that I keep coming back to time and time again and today I thought I would share them with you.
1. Lacura Hot Cloth Cleanser
If you have been a reader of my for a while, you would have seen this chestnut appear on multiple occasions because honestly I just love it so much. Aldi are known for their skin care range, Lacura and this is definitely a great representation of hot good the products are. It definitely gives Liz Earle’s Cleanse and Polish a run for its money and has worked wonders for my skin at a fraction of the cost.
2. No. 7 Stay Perfect Foundation
Is anyone able to count the different foundations they have tried in order to find the right one because honestly I lost count after maybe number 10 but I think I may have found it in the for of the Stay Perfect Foundation by No. 7. I have been loving and repurchasing this foundation for years, I even wrote a blog post on it and I have a feeling this is going to me by favourite for the rest of my life haha.
3. Palmers Cocoa Butter Lip Balm
I suffer from dry lips and this time of year is a nightmare for me. I have tried so many lip balm but they just don’t seem to do the job for me and sometimes make them feel worse. Well say hello to my little miracle, from Palmers. The cocoa butter leaves my lips feeling so moisturised and soft for so long and I can’t imagine not having this in my handbag.
4. Vitamin E Night Cream
I love the idea of night creams and giving your skin that much needed moisture before bed but I always found that because they are quite thick, my skin would break out and in the morning I would have about 5 new friends. Well I found one that doesn’t do that and it is from the Vitamin E collection from Superdrug. It is a lot thicker than the day cream but it leaves my face feeling incredible!
What are your holy grail beauty products?
I am a massive over thinker and often find that night time is the worst because no matter how tired I am, my mind is continuously in over drive worrying about a million different things.
I have tried so many things to try and shut my mind off; including the classic camomile tea but what works for me the most is pillow sprays. I didn’t even realise pillow sprays were a thing until I went to a blogger event and there was kindly one in the goody bag. I tried it out and couldn’t believe I hadn’t used one before.
I have tried a few different ones now, each with different scents but I find that the ones with lavender oil in them work best for me and the one that I have been loving the most is the Sweet Dreams spray by Feather and Down. Every night I look forward to getting into bed and spraying a few squirts of this because honestly I am out like a light in about 5 mins, which is great compared to the 40 it used to take.
It’s mad how much the way you sleep can affect the way you behave and function. I find work can be very stressful and I find it very hard to relax so from now on a pillow spray is a staple in my night time routine and probably equally as important to me as moisturising.
Have you ever tried a pillow spray and what do you think of them?
Wow, it’s been a while since I last wrote a blog post. To be completely honest, I got pretty used to scheduled posts going up when they were supposed to during Blogmas and of course I wanted to spend some quality time with my loved ones one the holidays.
But here we are, in a whole new year. My welcome to 2019 was perfect; Jack and I had a cosy night in with a home cooked meal, wine, chocolate and movies. I’ve done the whole going away for New Years and going to parties but it’s definitely more about who you’re with then where you are.
During the Christmas break I thought a lot about what I want to get out of 2019 and the biggest thing out of everything is to be happy. The last few months have been a little bit difficult for me as I have been feeling anxious and finding it too easy to see the negative in every situation and I’m tired of living like that. Of course there are going to be bumps in the road but as long as I am happy and surrounded with my favourite people then that’s all I want.
Of course there are some other achievements that I want to hit this year:
– Pick up a language
I say this a lot but I really wise I could speak a different language, I think it is such a fantastic skill to have. I have tried in the past but usually give up and forget to get back into it. This year I want to really work on my Spanish and French
– Read more
Last year I really made an effort with reading and actually read a lot of good books that I enjoyed and this year I want to do even better. My parents got me a book for Christmas which I have already started so hopefully this sticks
– Grow my blog
I loved taking part in Blogmas and all of the engagement it bought to me and my blog, I really felt part of the blogosphere and I want that more often. I would love to collaborate with other bloggers and brands so hopefully 2019 is the year I can make all of this happen and really grow Hannah’s Little Corner
– Make and document as many memories with my loved ones
For someone with a Photography degree, I really don’t take photos as often as I should so this year I am determined to photography and document as much as possible. I don’t want to forget any other 2019’s great memories
What are your goals for 2019?
