Fenty Beauty Boots Launch

Unless you have been living under a rock, you will know that Fenty Beauty was launched in Boots here in the UK and to celebrate the launch, I was kindly invited down to my local Boots at Intu Lakeside to see the collection and test out the products.

The Boots at Intu Lakeside has recently had a makeover so as well as seeing the Fenty collection, we were also there to see the new store layout; which can I say was amazing.

We were shown around the store by the loveliest lady called Dee who took us to literally every counter so we could see what product they had and test the out. It was great because Boots have recently launched some new brands in store including Becca and It Cosmetics so it was a fab way to try out some new products that I hadn’t seen before.

After seeing all of the other brands, it was then tine to drool over Fenty which j was so excited for. They showed us some of the newer pieces as well as the much loved classics and honestly I was blown away with the amount of shades of foundation there was, literally something for every skin tone and type.

I must admit I was a bit reluctant about trying the Fenty foundation as it is matte and I had quite dry skin so I always assumed it would just cake itself on and stick to all the dry patches. I was kindly colour matched by one of the girls who then proceeded to give me a full make over with all of the Fenty line which was so generous and kind. I am still wearing it now as I am writing this and it feels amazing. It’s been about 4 hours and it doesn’t feel cakey or heavy at all which is definitely what I thought it would do. The colour matches my skin tone perfectly and completely cancels out my pink undertones.

As we we’re leaving we were also gifted with a lovely goody bag full of products from the brands that are stocked in Boots and honestly I am blown away by the generosity of it and I can’t wait to get stuck in to some of the products.

Thank you Boots and Intu Lakeside for having me and showing me around the new store. It’s stunning and you made me feel so special and welcome.

2. No. 7 Stay Perfect Foundation – I have been obsessed with this foundation for years now but haven’t really shared my love for it in a long time. 3. Freedom Bro Duo Powder – I much prefer using a powder to fill in my brows because I always think that looks the most natural and the one I have been loving the most is by Freedom. You get 2 powders in each compact and the ones I use and alternate between are Auburn and Medium Brown (this one) and they are great; my brows look so good throughout the day.

Marks and Spencer – Mimosa & Bergamot

I love perfumes and body sprays and I am always on the hunt for new ones to add to my collection. My latest one was actually a present from one of my best friends; Amy and it’s so good that I have to tell you about it.

Introducing Mimosa and Bergamot spray from Marks and Spencer!

I usually lean more towards fruity, sweet perfumes but I can’t resist this scent. It’s a bit muskier but still contains floral notes from the Mimosa and can still be classed as a ‘girlier fragrance’:

Notes of bergamot zest, mimosa petals and soft musk

The spray itself is actually only a eau de toilette but it lasts so long so I don’t have to continuously top it up throughout the day but its also the perfect handbag size for the days I am out longer and do want to have a little extra spritz.

Every time I wear this I get so many compliments and can’t wait to rave about it to whoever asks what is it. I am also obsessed with the bottle/box design; its a gorgeous peachy colour with leaves all over it which looks beautiful sitting along my other bottles and makes for the nicest blog photos if I do say so myself.

Marks and Spencer to do many other scents and now that I have tried this, I am on a mission to add more to my collection because they really are the perfect every day smells, so elegant and feminine.

Radiance Perfecting Serum

I can’t believe the change in weather. Please can it be hot all year round England, my skin needs some vitamin C. Speaking of vitamin C, I have recently been using the Radiance Perfecting Serum from PearlEssence and been loving it.

Vitamin C is great for the skin because it has anti ageing properties and works to brighten and smooth the skin. Working in the city, it is also great because it helps protect against environmental damage.

53456110_485265942004838_2721532441159270400_n

I use the serum twice a day; right before I moisturise and all I can say is wow. It sinks into my skin but doesn’t feel like its clogging my pores which is great because my skin is so sensitive and even the slightest difference in my usual routine can give me an outbreak that last for days. I find that my make also looks a lot better now that I have introduced this into my routine and I am just completely obsessed.

Pearlessense also do so many other products which I am definitely am going to try because if they are anything like this then I need them in my life.

Holy Grail Beauty Products

Being a lover of anything beauty related, I think it is fair to say I have tried a lot of products in my time but there are always those that are my holy grails and items that I keep coming back to time and time again and today I thought I would share them with you.

1. Lacura Hot Cloth Cleanser
If you have been a reader of my for a while, you would have seen this chestnut appear on multiple occasions because honestly I just love it so much. Aldi are known for their skin care range, Lacura and this is definitely a great representation of hot good the products are. It definitely gives Liz Earle’s Cleanse and Polish a run for its money and has worked wonders for my skin at a fraction of the cost.

2. No. 7 Stay Perfect Foundation
Is anyone able to count the different foundations they have tried in order to find the right one because honestly I lost count after maybe number 10 but I think I may have found it in the for of the Stay Perfect Foundation by No. 7. I have been loving and repurchasing this foundation for years, I even wrote a blog post on it and I have a feeling this is going to me by favourite for the rest of my life haha.

3. Palmers Cocoa Butter Lip Balm
I suffer from dry lips and this time of year is a nightmare for me. I have tried so many lip balm but they just don’t seem to do the job for me and sometimes make them feel worse. Well say hello to my little miracle, from Palmers. The cocoa butter leaves my lips feeling so moisturised and soft for so long and I can’t imagine not having this in my handbag.

4. Vitamin E Night Cream
I love the idea of night creams and giving your skin that much needed moisture before bed but I always found that because they are quite thick, my skin would break out and in the morning I would have about 5 new friends. Well I found one that doesn’t do that and it is from the Vitamin E collection from Superdrug. It is a lot thicker than the day cream but it leaves my face feeling incredible!

Snail Slime Moisturiser

Yes, you read that correctly, I put snail slime on my face.

While I was on holiday, I came across this aloe vera moisturiser which is also combined with purified snail slime. At first, I pointed it out to my friend, Zoe and I was so shocked and to be honest a little grossed out but she told me that actually, the slime has a lot of benefits and is great for your skin.

The cream itself not only has SPF in it, which I love but it also claims to even out skin tone, has anti ageing properties and hydrates your skin – which just sounds like my kind of miracle cream. The 100ml pot was only €5 so I thought why not give it a go and see what it’s like. Oh my goodness; why didn’t I know about this before?

IMG_9935

I have been using this cream for just over a month now and I have noticed such a difference in my skin. I can’t really tell if the elasticity has improved but my skin is definitely more hydrated and even and it makes my makeup stay on for longer which is always an added bonus.

IMG_9938

As I bought in in Tenerife, I was worried about being able to re-purchase when I run out but there are actually a few places in the UK that sell similar products and you can also buy it online thankfully.

What’s the strangest skin care product you’ve used and would you ever use snail slime?

Current Skincare Routine

My skin is so unpredictable so when I find a skincare routine/products that I love, I usually stick with it for a ridiculously long time; especially now that the weather is warmer and my face needs a little extra tlc.

My current routine is one that I have been using for a few weeks and I feel like it has improved the texture of my skin and it doesn’t look as dull or lifeless as it used too.

First step is to go in with everyones love; micellar water. I honestly can’t remember what I used to do without this little gem in my life; well I do, I used makeup wipes, which just makes me cringe internally. I get a couple of cotton pads and gently wipe away all my make up and then go in with a second round to make sure I get as much off as possible.

IMG_9606

The next step is my faaaavourite; cleanser. Now as you all know, because I bang on about it enough, my favourite cleaner is the hot cloth one from Aldi. I love how clean is makes my skin feel and it always surprises me how much make up comes off on the muslin cloth where the micellar water missed it. Some cleansers can be quite harsh for me as I have sensitive skin but I find that hot cloth ones are great as you only need a small amount and they are always full of such natural ingredients.

IMG_9607

Once I have removed the cleanser, I then apply a generous layer of toner. If you read my April Favourites post, you will know that I have been loving the Eau Roma Water toner from Lush as it has rose water and lavender in it, which I think is just so soothing on the skin and leaves me feeling so calm and refreshed.

IMG_9608

Lastly, the most important step, moisturiser. This is usually where I start having trouble because they either don’t moisturise my face enough and it still looks dry or it’s too heavy and makes me skin look oily and start to break out. The one I have been loving the most is actually from Boots’ own range and it is the cucumber daily moisturiser. I find that the cucumber really soothes my skin and I can always add more if I want more intense hydration which I usually do during the night.

April Favourites

April Favourites

I can’t believe that it is the end of April; where is this year going? Although, I don’t mind because I have so many exciting plans coming up this summer that I can’t wait for, so I’m happy to speed up time a bit. Also, speaking of summer, I can’t wait for it to get warmer, last week was scorching sun and now it’s rainy and miserable. Anyway, without further ado, here are some of my favourite products that I have been loving throughout April.

1. Gel Nails

I love having gel nails but unfortunately gel nail polish doesn’t really love me. With the brand I was using before, it would really irritate my nails and would make my fingers so sore and itchy, so I bit the bullet and treated myself to some proper CND Shellac polish including; base coat, top coat and a red shade. I only got one to give it ago incase it reacted badly again but it didn’t and I am so happy! There is nothing I love more than having perfectly painted, shiny nails so you can bet that I have raided Amazon for so many new colours.

IMG_9582

2. Aldi’s Hot Cloth Cleaner

If you read my last post, you will know that I have been raving about the hot cloth cleanser from Aldi – the perfect Liz Earle dupe; and April has made me love it even more. I have been using it every day since I got it and I have noticed such an improvement in my skin and even the way my make up applies in the mornings. I honestly could sit here all day raving about it but that would be pretty boring to read.

IMG_9589

3. Lush’s Eau Roma Water Toner

Toner is usually a step that I forget in my skincare routine but recently I have rediscovered my love for it and in particular the Eau Roma Water from Lush. It has rose water and lavender in it so it is really moisturising and calms my skin which is great, especially when I use it before bed – the lavender also helps me to sleep and stops me getting so anxious. It is a newly added step that I don’t plan on forgetting again.

IMG_9590

4. Makeup Revolution Pro’s Supreme Matte Lip Pigment

This is actually a product that I was gifted back at the Makeup Revolution birthday party and it’s now become a staple for everyday of the week. I don’t usually like matte lip products because my lips get really dry but this has been amazing, it doesn’t leave my lips feeling flaky and the colour is so pretty – a dark nude which is perfect for everyday looks but also for nights out if I have a darker eye.

The Perfect Hot Cloth Cleanser

The Perfect Hot Cloth Cleanser

For years I have been a lover of Liz Earle’s staple ‘Cleanse and Polish’ and I find most cleaners, especially hot cloth ones just aren’t the same. Well *drumroll please* I think I’ve found a very strong contender for my new favourite and it comes from Aldi!

IMG_9466

Aldi have been very successful with their skin care line; Lacura, providing a range of products from Caviar face creams to charcol mud masks and now, your new best friend, the hot cloth cleanser.

The product itself comes with an extremely generous 200ml of cleanser and a muslin cloth, all for under £5, a complete steal compared to Liz Earle’s £20 price tag.

Usually, I use this after I’ve had a bath or shower and it works an absolute treat. I take all of my makeup off with some micellar water, let the steam of the hot water open all my pores and then apply the cleaner before removing it with the muslin cloth. The best thing about it is, that a little bit goes a very long way so I know I am going to get a lot of use out of it which is the best feeling because honestly, I love it so much, I’m dreading the day it runs out.

IMG_9464

It’s so gentle that you can use it everyday and since I’ve been using it, I’ve noticed such a difference in my skin; it’s softer and not as dull looking which is partly due to the muslin cloth being slightly abrasive which gently exfoliates the face and removes any dead skin.

Have you tried the Lacura Hot Cloth Cleanser? If not, I would definitely recommend getting yourself a bottle because it has become my staple skincare item and I actually look forward to cleansing my skin over night.

Lush Jelly Face Masks

I’ve been a little MIA for the past couple of weeks, for a number of different reasons but I’m so ready to get back into the blogging world because I have honestly missed it so much.

Recently, Lush released their new Jelly face masks so being the face mask advocate I am, I had to try them out. I picked up ‘Bunny Moon’ because it contains honey and camomile which is known for leaving your skin really soft and calm.

IMG_8748

I didn’t really know what to expect as most of the face masks I use are charcoal ones but I was really excited to see what the jelly like consistency would be like. As soon as I opened the pot, I knew I’d love it; it smelt so fresh and sweet and had little gold flexes of glitter on the top.

The consistency really wasn’t what I expected at all, I thought it would be more like a runny gloop but the best way to describe it is like a chocolate mousse; which was a lot better because it made applying it a lot easier. Like with all Lush products, a little goes a long way; which is great because it means it’s going to last a lot longer and I usually apply my face masks after I have come out of the shower so my face is still a little damp as it makes it easier to spread around.

IMG_8751

Washing the mask off was a little bit of a pain because I found that it sometimes clumps together but the end results are well worth the extra little bit of time. The mask always leaves my skin feeling so soft and super clean and I’m so desperate to give the others a try because I’m sure I will love them just as much as Bunny Moon.

Have you tried any other the Lush Jelly Face Masks?
