Lush Jelly Face Masks

I’ve been a little MIA for the past couple of weeks, for a number of different reasons but I’m so ready to get back into the blogging world because I have honestly missed it so much.

Recently, Lush released their new Jelly face masks so being the face mask advocate I am, I had to try them out. I picked up ‘Bunny Moon’ because it contains honey and camomile which is known for leaving your skin really soft and calm.

I didn’t really know what to expect as most of the face masks I use are charcoal ones but I was really excited to see what the jelly like consistency would be like. As soon as I opened the pot, I knew I’d love it; it smelt so fresh and sweet and had little gold flexes of glitter on the top.

The consistency really wasn’t what I expected at all, I thought it would be more like a runny gloop but the best way to describe it is like a chocolate mousse; which was a lot better because it made applying it a lot easier. Like with all Lush products, a little goes a long way; which is great because it means it’s going to last a lot longer and I usually apply my face masks after I have come out of the shower so my face is still a little damp as it makes it easier to spread around.

Washing the mask off was a little bit of a pain because I found that it sometimes clumps together but the end results are well worth the extra little bit of time. The mask always leaves my skin feeling so soft and super clean and I’m so desperate to give the others a try because I’m sure I will love them just as much as Bunny Moon.

Have you tried any other the Lush Jelly Face Masks?

Post Holiday Skin Care Routine

I’ve been home from holiday for about 2 weeks now (still so sad to be home) and I’d like to think I still have some form of a tan; especially seeing as I have been making a conscious effort to up my skin care routine.

I’ve found a new love for body scrubs, a step that I used to miss out completely. It’s good to exfoliate to remove any dead skin to keep your body feeling nice and soft. My ‘go to’ scrubs at the minute have been Lush’s Cup o’ Coffee and Zoella’s Scrubbing Me Softly body scrub.

Once I am out of the bath, I make sure to moisturise my skin to keep it hydrated. I used to be quite lazy with moisturising but since coming home from holiday, I have made much more of an effort to do it. I’ve been using a lot of body butters lately as I feel that they give my skin a lot more hydration and the one I have been loving the most is the coconut one from DermaV10; it literally smells like holiday.

The Perfect Foundation

I have always struggled to find a foundation to suit me and my skin. They are either too matte and make my skin look super dry and cling to every dry patch I have or they are too dewy and make me look oily. It’s hard because my skin changes all the time and I never really know what to do for the best. After hearing that they rebranded and formulated an old favourite of mine I decided to give the new Bourjois Healthy Mix a go and thought it would be my saviour but I couldn’t get on with it; I just found that it oxidised around my nose and moved within a few hours, not ideal!

I was really starting to give up, but my friend Zoe told me to go to Boots and get colour matched by No.7 as she had been loving their Stay Perfect foundation. I was a bit nervous because I had been colour matched in Boots before and they matched me so wrong I ended up with a foundation 3 shades darker than I needed but I went and got colour matched. The lovely lady at the No.7 counter removed some of my makeup and used this really cool machine which she held to my cheek and it instantly brought up my shade which was Callico; which surprise surprise is their lightest shade haha. I was so eager to try it the next morning and I haven’t looked back since. The shade is a perfect match for my skin and gives a dewy finish without it looking too oily and with a bit of powder it stays put all day which is amazing. I have actually had a few compliments since wearing this foundation too which is always nice. I can’t believe it has taken me so long to try a No.7 foundation but I will definitely be sticking with this one for a while.

Have you ever tried a No.7 foundation?

First Impression // Makeup Revolution Retro Luxe Kits

I’m a huge Makeup Revolution fan so when I saw that they had released a lip kit of their own, I knew I had to get my hands on them. I never bothered with the Kylie lip kits because to be brutally honest, I think they are so overrated and not worth the money let alone all the customs and shipping charges.

I was wondering around Superdrug and found a few of the Retro Luxe kits hidden in a side display; unfortunately, they were all the same shade so I just picked up one (but I’ll probably order the rest online). I have never been the biggest fan of matte lip products so I wasn’t really sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. The formula of both the liner and the liquid lipstick was so creaming and nourishing and didn’t leave my lips feeling dry at all.

When it came to cleaning the swatch off my arm, I did actually have a bit of trouble which was such a good sign because I knew it would stay on my lips for a long time, even through eating and drinking. The only downfall, which actually isn’t a downfall at all, is that the shade I got doesn’t suit my skin tone too well but that didn’t stop me from loving the product and wanting to try out all the other shades.

The Perfect Skincare Routine

I am always looking to mix up my skincare routine to find the best combination for my skin and I finally think I have cracked it and found one that works the best for me. To make sure I get all of my makeup off, I use the Ark Skincare Pre – Cleanse which is an oil that breaks down all makeup; including eye makeup and mascara, woo! Usually at this point I can already feel that my skin is a lot cleaner but I then go in with a cleanser to make sure that all of my pores are clean.

The cleanser that I have been absolutely loving recently is the NU Skin Gentle Cleanser. It is so gentle on the skin and leaves my skin feeling so soft and clean. I always know that after I have washed it off that my skin is completely makeup free. Once I have cleansed, I usually go in with a bit of toner and the one I have been obsessed with for quite a while now is Lush’s Eau Roma Water which is great for my sensitive skin.

Once I have cleansed and toned I make sure that I add some moisture back into my face so depending on the time of day, I either use a light day cream or a heavier night cream. The two that I have been using the most are the Nivea Daily Essentials ones. They are fragrance free; which is great for sensitive skin and they don’t make my face oily or break me out.

The Balm Nude ‘tude Palette

Who doesn’t love a neutral eye shadow palette?  I recently got my hands on the Nude ‘dude palette from The Balm cosmetics and it is vastly becoming my favourite product. There are so many beautiful colours which are super pigmented and last all day; and they all have such great names including ‘sassy’ and ‘seductive’.

There are 12 shades in the palette that are a mixture of shimmers, mattes and satin. The colours range from a white shade, through to nudey pinks and golds and browns; so you can combine then to create a number of different looks for any occasion. My favourite shade is a beautiful shimmery pink called ‘standoffish’ which is perfect on its own for everyday wear or layered on top of a darker shade to create the perfect night time glamour look.

The packaging is very vintage looking and it great for traveling as it comes with a mirror and brush and is the perfect size to fit in any travel bag/suitcase The palette can be bought from The Balm website or many other online stores including BirchBox and retails for about £25-£30 or about $36.

Have you ever tried a palette from The Balm? If so, what’s your favourite shade?

Zoella Sweet Inspirations Mist

I absolutely love buying perfume and smelling nice, especially when there is a cute bottle involved, so when Zoella announced she was releasing a new body mist, I knew I had to smell it. Being a fan of Zoe’s previous collections, I had a feeling that I was going to love this one just as much and I definitely wasn’t disappointed.

The new collection is called ‘Sweet Inspirations’ and it is exactly that! The scent is very sweet, with strong vanilla notes running throughout but it isn’t overpowering at all. I remember I read somewhere that people think it smells like Macaroon which it actually does; that’s probably why I like it so much, because they are my favourite. Apart from the smell, the thing that really stood out for me is the bottle. I am a massive fan of the 1920s and the bottle has a very strong 20’s feel about it which just made me love it that little bit more in particular the gold swirls around the corners. This is definitely my new favourite everyday scent, it’s the perfect size for putting it in my handbag and taking it to work.

Lush Six Scents Event

Lush events are some of my personal favourites to attend, so when Lust Straford asked if I wanted to come to their first ever event of course I said yes. The event was to showcase some of their scents some of which I was familiar with and some which were new to me so I was very excited. The evening was split between six scents and each scent had an activity related to it. There were also some amazing musicians there who were preforming throughout and their song choices varied from scent to scent.

The first smell was one of my favourites; Dirty and to celebrate that we had mojitos with the cutest flamingos cocktail sticks which were sprayed with the fragrance so every time you took a sip, you got a smell of dirty. We them moved onto Karma which is quite citrusy so for this we all sat on a rag in the middle of the store and there were bowls of oranges for us and some of the staff were walking around spritzing Karma into the air. It was probably my favourite part of the evening, I could have sat there all night just talking and listening to the music.

We then moved onto Vanillary and for this, we were each given a silk scarf which had be spritzed with the scent. Normally I’m not a massive fan of this smell as I find it can be a bit too over powering but each scarf had the perfect amount on it. We also had a go at making our own Cupcake face mask which is now my favourite Lush mask. Imogen Rose followed, which I was so excited for because I love the smell of roses. For this particular scent, the lovely ladies in Lush came round with massage bars and gave us all arm and hand massages which was just heaven. We were also given some Rose flavoured Turkish delight.

The last two scents were All Good Things and Lavender Hill Mob. All Good Things was dedicated to a relationship and how it is great and sweet at the beginning but it can tour bitter and negative. We were given candy floss to symbolise the start and beer to add the bitter element to the scent. We were also given love letters to pass around that had been sprayed with the scent.  The last activity that went with Lavender Hill Mob was making our own Ickle Baby Bot while having homemade Lavender cupcakes. I love going to Lush events and being able to make my own bath bomb, it’s great to get involved and see how its done.

The whole evening was perfect, you could tell so much thought and preparation had gone into it and they all really thought about the best ways to showcase each scent. Thank you so much to Lush Stratford for inviting me and hosting THE best Lush event I have ever been to.

Lush Father’s Day Event

Lush have recently released their new Father’s day products and to celebrate, I was invited down to my local Lush store to learn all about them and see them in action. Within the new collection there are; 3 bath products, soap, a shampoo bar, an exfoliator and a moisturiser.

We began the evening by making our own ‘Big Blue’ bath bomb which was so much fun, even though I spilt most of it when we had to put the container together. We then spent some time  learning all about the bath products. There are two bath bombs; Lava Lamp and Super Dad and a bubble bar which is called The Mod Father. Both the Mod Father and Super Dad products have quite a masculine smell to them whereas Lava Lamp smells very citrusy. They all smelt incredible though. The soap, which is called Thanks Dad was also just as amazing. It is moulded to look like a building block with the letters D A D on it and it a mixture of yellow and red in colour. Unlike most Lush soaps, this one felt a lot softer and looks like it would be very gentle on the skin.

The last 3 products are more skincare related than bath and all have the same name ‘Smuggler’s Soul’. The first one we looked at was the Shampoo bar. Now, I’ve never used a Shampoo bar before so I wasn’t sure what to expect but it looked so good! Once it was wet, it lathered up and you could tell a little would go a long way. Also this particular Shampoo bar is good if you have a dry or itchy scalp. The last two were a facial scrub and a moisturising gel. The scrub was so gentle, I was actually tempted to buy it for myself. This would be great for an everyday exfoliator that wouldn’t break out or dry your skin. The last product was the moisture gel, which again, I was to tempted to buy for myself. It is so moisturising without being too heavy and thick which is always a great thing and the smell was amazing. Although most people would think to put this on their face, you could use it as an all over body moisturiser.

Like with any Lush collection, there are also gift boxes available which are always a good way to make sure you try out every product.

Garnier Oil-Infused Micellar Water

It’s now officially Spring, which means lots of TLC for our skin after those cold, Winter months. Lets be honest girls, as much as we’d all love to have a perfect skin care routine, it just doesn’t always happen but I think I have found the perfect solution. For a while now, micellar waters have been sweeping the world and have been most peoples ‘go to’ products and I am no exception and I’m sure some of you are the same. I have tried quite a few including the holy grail, Bioderma but the brand that I always go back to is Garnier.

There are so many different variations of the Micellar water, so there is literally one for every skin type but the new one is my current obsession. If you’re like me and suffer from dry skin, then listen up because this is just for you. Garnier have just released the new oil infused micellar water which is specifically targeted for dry, sensitive skin. At first, I didn’t know what to expect because normally when products are designed for dry skin, I personally find that they can be quite heavy and some even start to break me out but honestly, this could not be any further from that.

The product itself has two layers; the oil and the water so after a little shake it is ready to use. Once the water hits your face, you can feel it working away and breaking down all the make up; even eye liner and mascara! It leaves your face feeling so soft and clean as well as smelling amazing. Even though it only takes a couple of minutes, I always feel like my makeup has completely come off and that my skin is clean and ready for toning and moisturising but with that being said, I have just used the water and nothing else, and my skin still felt great; which is even better if you’re super lazy like me.

Have you ever used a micellar water, what are your thoughts on them and do you have a favourite?
