Appreciating The Little Moments

The first few days of April weren’t my best, I hit a pretty bad place with my mental health but it made me think about my life and all the little moments that make everyday so special.

Every day has good and bad moments and I am the worst at sometimes focusing on the negative and getting myself into moods because of it. This is something I definitely need to work on because I spend so long feeling down that I blink and the day is over and I’ve lost.

I’ve seen people, especially on Twitter, create threads where they jot down exciting things they have been ding each day but what I love to do is film it. Since the start of January, I have been using the app 1SE to document literally 1 second everyday. The app is so great because it really makes you stop and take time out to record what you have done each day, even if you think it’s not that exciting. I love it because it puts it into a montage so at the end of every month, I post my little 30 second video to my Instagram so it is always there for me to go back to and I’ll do the same on the last day of the year so I can see exactly how 2019 has been.

As a photography graduate, I love recording moments through creative mediums like photos and videos so this is something I have really been enjoying and it helps me stay positive and focused, even on the darker days.

Feel free to head over to my Instagram (@hannahmoggridge) to see what I have been getting up to over the last 4 months and keep an eye out for the next 8!

Blogmas Day 22| Walking In A Winter Wonderland

No winter in complete without at least 1 trip to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. This year me and Jack went and it was amazing as always, it was bigger and better than ever.

I never really go on the rides at Winter Wonderland but I love love walking around the market stalls looking at all the beautiful handmade goods all while cupping a delicious mulled wine – the most perfect winter feeling. Also, please don’t get me started on all the amazing food from bratwurst to crepes, I gain about a stone in weight just thinking about it.

It was so lovely to walk around with my favourite person singing all the Christmas songs and really getting into the festive spirit and I am actually a little bit gutted that we only did it once this year.

Have you been to Winter Wonderland?

Blogmas Day 21| Favourite Decorations

I can’t believe how close we are to the end of Blogmas and I am so proud I have managed to stick with it for this long. For today I wanted to share with you some of my favourite decorations that e have on the tree. We decorate our tree a little differently as none of our decorations fit in with a theme, they are all things we have collected over the years. I love that though because our tree has so much sentimental value to it, it’s so special.

Here are a few of my favourites:

Blogmas Day 16| Stress Free Shopping

I love Christmas, more than most; but it is so easy to get stressed out with the thought of buying the perfect presets for everyone and the thought of getting out to buy said presents.

brooke-lark-609899-unsplash.jpg

Shopping centres and high streets get absolutely swamped with people and it becomes a battle to get through the crowds which really isn’t enjoyable for anyone. Usually, I try to buy things online for people so that I can easily and quickly get them delivered to home without the hassle of queues and crowds or literally having to go outside. For this, Amazon is always my ‘go-to’ place because; I mean, is there anything they don’t sell? They’re also great because if you know exactly what you want to get, you can find it so easily without having to rummage through any shelves/racks.

If I decide that I do want to go out and search in the shops, I usually do it on weeknights because that’s when I find the crowds are at their lowest. I mean shopping on a Saturday is usually a no go but to do it on top of Christmas is a nightmare so always do it in the evenings. I also love it because I can stop off and have a nice hot chocolate to keep my going.

How do you keep your Christmas shopping stress free?

Blogmas Day 12| Favourite Christmas Films

Is there any better feeling than having a cosy day indoor with blankets, a hot chocolate and a few Christmas film? Yeah I didn’t think so either. I love a Christmas movie and if it was acceptable, I would probably watch them all throughout the year. Some of my favourite festive films are:

kyle-head-508423-unsplash

1. Elf
I mean, isn’t this everyone’s favourite film? I’m such a big Will Ferrell fan anyway and I think this is definitely in my top 5 films with him in it too. I don’t know what it is but I would sit and watch this over and over again and never get bored. I was gutted that I didn’t get tickets to see in in London, hopefully they bring it back so I can drag Jack along with me.

2. Love Actually
A British classic that follows the lives of different families at Christmas time. I can’t even begin to count how many times I have seen this film but I love it the same each time, the cast and story lines are just so great.

3. The Holiday
Another absolute classic that I could happily watch all year around. Again the cast in this film is fantastic; I mean who wouldn’t love to have Jude Law knocking on the door of your little cottage looking to stay the night in front of a fire. Perfect!

4. The Grinch
Mine and my dad’s favourite Christmas film. Again, I am such a huge Jim Carrey fan and definitely think this is one of his best ones. It’s so funny and even though I can quote it word for word it doesn’t stop me watching it at least 50 times.

5. Home Alone
I think I started watching this back in September because I love it that much, little Macaulay Culkin is the cutest.

What’s your favourite Christmas movie?

Blogmas Day 1| Welcome to Blogmas

Happy December!

blogmas 2018

But seriously, can someone explain to me how it is December already; I’m sure it was only July last week. Anyway December is one of my favourite months because CHRISTMAS! I am such a huge Christmas fan and this year to really keep with the Christmas spirit, I have decided to take part in Blogmas. This is something I have been wanted to do for ages but never got round to it because honestly; I didn’t think I could commit to it (I mean, I’m still not convinced I am going to blog every day)

For those of you who may be reading this thinking ‘What the hell is blogmas’ well allow me to explain. Blogmas is where bloggers share a new post, ususally festive themed, everyday from 1st December to 24th December. I can’t promise I am going to succeed at this but I am going to give it a good go. Expect to see gift guide, winter make up and skin care routines and festive fun days out. Here goes!!

Are you doing Blogmas this year?

Women Empowering Women

I am such a strong advocate for women supporting other women, especially when it comes to blogging, infact one of my favourite sayings is ‘throw kindness around like confetti’; so I was absolutely thrilled when Karen from The Mommy Lady tagged me to do this.

dubois-quote-about-empowering-women

1. What does women empowerment mean to you?
Women empowerment to me is all about supporting people with their achievements, not comparing yourself to others and being a supporter for everyone.

2. What woman/women do you admire the most? Why?
I was going to choose a celebrity for this but I actually chose to make it personal and say my mum. She is always so supportive of everything I do and she is my best friend.

3. Share a story, drawing or video that you think say “empowered women”

31-strong-women-empowerment-quotes-with-images

4. Share with us the best lesson you’ve learned in leadership.
I am a strong believer in the saying ‘lead by example’. You need to treat people the way you would like to be treated.

5.What cause do you most want to bring awareness to? Why? What does it mean to you?
Breast Cancer awareness is so important because it affects so many people and is the most common form of cancer in women. It is always so important to raise awareness so that we can help put a stop to cancer.

Thank you so much to Karen for tagging me. I now tag; Finlay, Lauren and Rachel, Rosie, Lauren and Chloe

Makeup Revolution Halloween Party

Once again, I am writing this blog post after having the best night at the annual Makeup Revolution Halloween party. Last night’s party theme was Alice in Wonderland and was held at the National History Museum in London (I know, it was definitely the coolest party I have ever been too)

44903681_246746002663684_4633199969174552576_n

As always, I took my sister with me and we were completely blown away. After dropping our bags off in the cloakroom, we walked through a keyhole into the main party, which was literally like walking into Wonderland. There were two make up stations either side of the entrance that were offering complimentary halloween makeovers and the bar in the middle was placed neatly under a giant tower of paying cards. There were people on stilts dressed as the queen of hearts and her flamingo croquet sticks and the dance floor was surrounded by roses and mushroom; I actually forgot that we were still in the middle of a museum.

We headed over to the bar to get a drink and we saw that the glasses either had playing cards attached to them or little labels that said ‘Drink Me’, honestly the attention to detail was amazing. We grabbed a glass of prosecco and made our way around the venue to see what else was there. There was a stage set up For Tokio Myers to perform who was incredible. I don’t watch the X Factor so I wasn’t sure what to expect but he was great.

The whole evening was fantastic, Holly got her make up done and we spent the rest of the night dancing and meeting other bloggers; it was great to see everyones outfits and makeup and to celebrate how far the Revolution brand has come.

I had such a good night and I already can’t wait for next year. Thank you to the Makeup Revolution team for the invite and for putting on a fantastic event.

Hello 2018

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

hello-2018-on-hand-painting-flowers-wreath-in-watercolor-style-over-white-paper-background_7190-922

I hope you all had the best time celebrating with loved ones and are ready for all of the adventures that lie ahead in 2018. I spent the New Year with some of my favourite people in Barcelona and while I was away, I thought about what I want to achieve from this new year and what I want my resolutions to be.

Blogging – when I first started my blog, I used to post 2 or more times a week and was so involved with the community but over the last year I really fell out of love with it. It was hard to find something engaging to write about and I just lacked any kind of motivation. Well; that’s (hopefully) going to change in 2018. I might not go back to posting 2 times a week, but I definitely want to make more of an effort to keep my blog active and get some kind on content up online.

Learn a Language – This is something I’ve wanted to do for so long but never made time for it. Some of my best friends now live in Spain so I want to learn Catalan so when I go out there, they don’t have to constantly translate for me.

Read More – It’s no secret that I don’t read…ever and it’s always something that I say I want to get in to but never do. Last year I read 4 book (which is a huge deal for me) and I want to keep that going. I actually find it relaxes me quite a bit, especially if I read on the train to work. I’m currently reading Me Before You so I’m starting off on the right foot, let’s see how long it lasts.

Take Polaroids – A couple of years ago, my sister bought me a polaroid camera and I used to use it all the time but lately, it’s been collecting dust on my bed side table. I love polaroids and want to document as much of this year as possible so instead of just taking pictures on my phone or my digital camera, I want to start getting more use out of my little instax.

Travel – such a cliche but I want to make this the year of trips and I don’t necessarily mean big holidays, but little weekends away to different parts of the UK. For Christmas, my boyfriend got me one of those maps thats you scratch off where you’ve been so I want to start putting that to good use.

What are you plans/goals for 2018?

Procrastinating with Monarch Airlines

After a busy day at work, the first thing I do when I get home is get my pyjamas on and open my laptop to binge watch Netflix for hours, while scrolling endlessly through social media. (I’ve actually got Netflix on in the back ground on while I’m writing this)

It’s so easy to waste time and procrastinate instead of seizing each minute and living life fully. To celebrate their new campaign ‘Flights Quicker Than‘; Monarch Arlines have challenged me to spend less time sitting in front of a screen and spend that time doing something I’ve always wanted to do but ‘never have time for’. For a week, I made a conscious effort to do the things I’ve always wanted.

Pamper Nights

I normally make Sundays my pamper night, where I have a Lush bath and do a face mask and just relax myself before the week starts but last week I think I had about 3 pamper nights, which is definitely something I’m going to do more often. Little things like that really make you feel better and out you in a much better mindset.

Getting Lost in a Book

I don’t read, and it’s something that I always say I want to get in to. I love the idea of spending a few hours getting lost in a story and letting your imagination run wild. I recently purchased an illustrated version of my favourite story; Peter Pan and I finally started reading it. It was so nice to switch off in the evenings and let my mind wander.

IMG_8773.jpg

Taking Photographs

I have a Photography Degree but the amount of time that I spend taking pictures has seriously decreased. I flicked through my favourite photography book to get some inspo and one night after work, I went around with my polaroid camera to take some photographs. I love how happy it makes me and its something I need to spend more time doing.

IMG_8733.jpg

After working out how many hours a day I actually waste binge watching ‘How to Get Away with Murder’; Monarch calculated where I could have gone on holiday and it’s pretty amazing.

Screen Shot 2017-08-07 at 21.25.22.png

I’m not reconsidering how I spend my time because I realise, I waste so much. I’m also now desperate to fly somewhere. If you want to see where you could fly to with all the time you procrastinate, you can here.
