Happy Lushoween

Halloween used to be my least favourite holiday; mainly because I get scared easily, but as each year passes, I try to enjoy it a little more than the last. Now while I still don’t have the guts to go to haunted houses and scary forest walks, I do like to get in the spirit by watching halloween movies and carving pumpkins. Please note that when I say ‘halloween movies’ I mean The Nightmare Before Christmas and Hocus Pocus.

As Halloween gets closer, it becomes darker earlier so another perfect way that I get myself into the spirit is by having a Halloween themed Lush bath. Every year Lush bring out the most amazing little bath bombs and bubble bars and this year I made sure I indulged. My go to combination is the magic crystals and a monster ball bath bomb; the best combo of spooky and pretty.

IMG_0010

The magic crystals are the most stunning purple colour and I use them to exfoliate my skin, especially if I am going to be shaving as I was my skin to stay soft and smooth. This also means that any moisturiser and body lotion that I put on after the bath stays and really hydrates my skin.

IMG_0019

It’s no surprise that I love a bath bomb and monster ball never disappoints. I don’t know if it’s the whole design or the deep purple it turns your bath water too but I am obsessed with. I think I am going to carry on with this combo for a long while after Halloween.

The Perfect Night In

The Perfect Night In

After an amazing heatwave, the weather here in the UK has taken a turn for the worst as it’s starting to become colder and much more autumnal. I am still desperately trying to hold on to summer and the warmth but I need to accept the inevitable, ‘Winter Is Coming’. To get me in the mood, I have been thinking about all of the cosy nights in and what makes them so perfect.

Films and Netflix

What is any night in without a few films or binge watching Netflix. There have been so many good shows out at the moment, my favourites being Power and Somebody Feed Phil (don’t watch if you are hungry, you’ve been warned) and of course To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. What better way to watch anything than on a new HD televisions from Panasonic

Clean Pyjamas

This is self explanatory. Honestly, is there a better feeling than getting out of the bath or shower and putting on a clean pair of pjs? It’s honestly one of my favourite things to do.

Hot Drink and Snacks

The essentials for any night in; snacks and all the hot drinks! Popcorn or something savoury like crisps are usually my go to snacks, but if you’re also like me and have a sweet tooth, a bit of chocolate always goes down a treat too. When it comes to hot drinks, if its getting a bit miserable outside I usually go for a hot chocolate or a cup of tea. As well as being tasty, they also warm you up and make you feel so snug.

A Bubble Bath

Usually, this goes at the start of my night but what is a night in without a bubble bath. I love nothing more than grabbing a Lush bath bomb or bubble bar, a face mask and some candles to really set a relaxing atmosphere. I could sit in the bath for hours as it’s the perfect place to destress and stay calm.

And there you go, my ‘go-to’s for having the perfect night in, whichI probably do at least 3 times a week. What makes up your perfect night in?

April Favourites

April Favourites

I can’t believe that it is the end of April; where is this year going? Although, I don’t mind because I have so many exciting plans coming up this summer that I can’t wait for, so I’m happy to speed up time a bit. Also, speaking of summer, I can’t wait for it to get warmer, last week was scorching sun and now it’s rainy and miserable. Anyway, without further ado, here are some of my favourite products that I have been loving throughout April.

1. Gel Nails

I love having gel nails but unfortunately gel nail polish doesn’t really love me. With the brand I was using before, it would really irritate my nails and would make my fingers so sore and itchy, so I bit the bullet and treated myself to some proper CND Shellac polish including; base coat, top coat and a red shade. I only got one to give it ago incase it reacted badly again but it didn’t and I am so happy! There is nothing I love more than having perfectly painted, shiny nails so you can bet that I have raided Amazon for so many new colours.

2. Aldi’s Hot Cloth Cleaner

If you read my last post, you will know that I have been raving about the hot cloth cleanser from Aldi – the perfect Liz Earle dupe; and April has made me love it even more. I have been using it every day since I got it and I have noticed such an improvement in my skin and even the way my make up applies in the mornings. I honestly could sit here all day raving about it but that would be pretty boring to read.

3. Lush’s Eau Roma Water Toner

Toner is usually a step that I forget in my skincare routine but recently I have rediscovered my love for it and in particular the Eau Roma Water from Lush. It has rose water and lavender in it so it is really moisturising and calms my skin which is great, especially when I use it before bed – the lavender also helps me to sleep and stops me getting so anxious. It is a newly added step that I don’t plan on forgetting again.

4. Makeup Revolution Pro’s Supreme Matte Lip Pigment

This is actually a product that I was gifted back at the Makeup Revolution birthday party and it’s now become a staple for everyday of the week. I don’t usually like matte lip products because my lips get really dry but this has been amazing, it doesn’t leave my lips feeling flaky and the colour is so pretty – a dark nude which is perfect for everyday looks but also for nights out if I have a darker eye.

Lush Jelly Face Masks

I’ve been a little MIA for the past couple of weeks, for a number of different reasons but I’m so ready to get back into the blogging world because I have honestly missed it so much.

Recently, Lush released their new Jelly face masks so being the face mask advocate I am, I had to try them out. I picked up ‘Bunny Moon’ because it contains honey and camomile which is known for leaving your skin really soft and calm.

IMG_8748

I didn’t really know what to expect as most of the face masks I use are charcoal ones but I was really excited to see what the jelly like consistency would be like. As soon as I opened the pot, I knew I’d love it; it smelt so fresh and sweet and had little gold flexes of glitter on the top.

The consistency really wasn’t what I expected at all, I thought it would be more like a runny gloop but the best way to describe it is like a chocolate mousse; which was a lot better because it made applying it a lot easier. Like with all Lush products, a little goes a long way; which is great because it means it’s going to last a lot longer and I usually apply my face masks after I have come out of the shower so my face is still a little damp as it makes it easier to spread around.

IMG_8751

Washing the mask off was a little bit of a pain because I found that it sometimes clumps together but the end results are well worth the extra little bit of time. The mask always leaves my skin feeling so soft and super clean and I’m so desperate to give the others a try because I’m sure I will love them just as much as Bunny Moon.

Have you tried any other the Lush Jelly Face Masks?

Lush Spa

To say I love Lush is the biggest understatement; as I’m sure you know from the amount of Lush themed posts I have. The other weekend me and mum went to the Oxford St. store to have a treatment called ‘The Good Hour’. I don’t want to give anything away but let me just say, it definitely lived up to it’s name.

IMG_8753

Our treatment was a themed, 70 minute full body massage and it was the most amazing experience of my life. We arrived at the Spa and was greeted by the lovely Frankie and Emma who sat us down and told us all about the treatment and the products that would be used. It was great because we were able to say if there were any specific areas that we wanted them to focus on; to which I said the top of my back because I’ve been quite tense/stressed lately. We were then led down a cosy, dimly lit hallway to the different treatment rooms.

Once inside we were given a moment to get undressed and ready under the towel before ringing a bell to allow the treatment to begin. Now, as I said, I’m not going to ruin it by going in to a lot of details (although I’m sure you all know how a full body massage works) but the next 70 minutes were pure heaven. I completely zoned out and forgot that I was in a store on Oxford Street. It was so peaceful and tranquil and I didn’t want it to end. From the minute me and mum got up, I’m pretty sure the only thing we managed to say was ‘Oh my god’ because we were so relaxed!

Once we got dressed, we made our way back out into the kitchen area where there was a giant wooden table full of flowers and products and a little lounge area where there was a table with two cups of tea waiting for us. We sat there for a while basking in the atmosphere while talking to a lady who had just come out of a facial (which I think is going to be my next treatment)

IMG_8758

IMG_8765Honestly, I couldn’t recommend the Lush spa enough, I came way feeling so happy and relaxed. I’m already planning my next trip. Also a huge thank you to Frankie and Emma for making me and mum feel so comfortable and welcome.

Post Holiday Skin Care Routine

I’ve been home from holiday for about 2 weeks now (still so sad to be home) and I’d like to think I still have some form of a tan; especially seeing as I have been making a conscious effort to up my skin care routine.

IMG_8717

I’ve found a new love for body scrubs, a step that I used to miss out completely. It’s good to exfoliate to remove any dead skin to keep your body feeling nice and soft. My ‘go to’ scrubs at the minute have been Lush’s Cup o’ Coffee and Zoella’s Scrubbing Me Softly body scrub.

IMG_8721

Once I am out of the bath, I make sure to moisturise my skin to keep it hydrated. I used to be quite lazy with moisturising but since coming home from holiday, I have made much more of an effort to do it. I’ve been using a lot of body butters lately as I feel that they give my skin a lot more hydration and the one I have been loving the most is the coconut one from DermaV10; it literally smells like holiday.

Lush Six Scents Event

Lush events are some of my personal favourites to attend, so when Lust Straford asked if I wanted to come to their first ever event of course I said yes. The event was to showcase some of their scents some of which I was familiar with and some which were new to me so I was very excited. The evening was split between six scents and each scent had an activity related to it. There were also some amazing musicians there who were preforming throughout and their song choices varied from scent to scent.

The first smell was one of my favourites; Dirty and to celebrate that we had mojitos with the cutest flamingos cocktail sticks which were sprayed with the fragrance so every time you took a sip, you got a smell of dirty. We them moved onto Karma which is quite citrusy so for this we all sat on a rag in the middle of the store and there were bowls of oranges for us and some of the staff were walking around spritzing Karma into the air. It was probably my favourite part of the evening, I could have sat there all night just talking and listening to the music.

We then moved onto Vanillary and for this, we were each given a silk scarf which had be spritzed with the scent. Normally I’m not a massive fan of this smell as I find it can be a bit too over powering but each scarf had the perfect amount on it. We also had a go at making our own Cupcake face mask which is now my favourite Lush mask. Imogen Rose followed, which I was so excited for because I love the smell of roses. For this particular scent, the lovely ladies in Lush came round with massage bars and gave us all arm and hand massages which was just heaven. We were also given some Rose flavoured Turkish delight.

The last two scents were All Good Things and Lavender Hill Mob. All Good Things was dedicated to a relationship and how it is great and sweet at the beginning but it can tour bitter and negative. We were given candy floss to symbolise the start and beer to add the bitter element to the scent. We were also given love letters to pass around that had been sprayed with the scent.  The last activity that went with Lavender Hill Mob was making our own Ickle Baby Bot while having homemade Lavender cupcakes. I love going to Lush events and being able to make my own bath bomb, it’s great to get involved and see how its done.

The whole evening was perfect, you could tell so much thought and preparation had gone into it and they all really thought about the best ways to showcase each scent. Thank you so much to Lush Stratford for inviting me and hosting THE best Lush event I have ever been to.

Lush Father’s Day Event

Lush have recently released their new Father’s day products and to celebrate, I was invited down to my local Lush store to learn all about them and see them in action. Within the new collection there are; 3 bath products, soap, a shampoo bar, an exfoliator and a moisturiser.

IMG_7282

We began the evening by making our own ‘Big Blue’ bath bomb which was so much fun, even though I spilt most of it when we had to put the container together. We then spent some time  learning all about the bath products. There are two bath bombs; Lava Lamp and Super Dad and a bubble bar which is called The Mod Father. Both the Mod Father and Super Dad products have quite a masculine smell to them whereas Lava Lamp smells very citrusy. They all smelt incredible though. The soap, which is called Thanks Dad was also just as amazing. It is moulded to look like a building block with the letters D A D on it and it a mixture of yellow and red in colour. Unlike most Lush soaps, this one felt a lot softer and looks like it would be very gentle on the skin.

The last 3 products are more skincare related than bath and all have the same name ‘Smuggler’s Soul’. The first one we looked at was the Shampoo bar. Now, I’ve never used a Shampoo bar before so I wasn’t sure what to expect but it looked so good! Once it was wet, it lathered up and you could tell a little would go a long way. Also this particular Shampoo bar is good if you have a dry or itchy scalp. The last two were a facial scrub and a moisturising gel. The scrub was so gentle, I was actually tempted to buy it for myself. This would be great for an everyday exfoliator that wouldn’t break out or dry your skin. The last product was the moisture gel, which again, I was to tempted to buy for myself. It is so moisturising without being too heavy and thick which is always a great thing and the smell was amazing. Although most people would think to put this on their face, you could use it as an all over body moisturiser.

Like with any Lush collection, there are also gift boxes available which are always a good way to make sure you try out every product.

Lush 9-5 Cleanser

IMG_6278

Apart from the Liz Earle cleanse and polish, I haven’t found a cleaner that I love and works well for my skin, well until now.

My sister works for Lush and she recommended the 9-5 cleanser, which I had heard a bit about but had never tried. After using it for about a month now, I am officially obsessed. It’s so gentle on the skin which means that you can use it both day and night and it doesn’t leave your face feeling irritated. Sometimes I find that cleaners leave my face feeling quite tight and dry, but this leaves my skin feeling so soft and feeling amazing.

You need to tiniest bit and you can really feel is cleaning out all of your pores and the slight fragrance leaves your face smelling beautiful. I normally use the cleanser both in the morning and the evening and I follow up with a Lush toner and my moisturiser and my skin always feels so nice.

Have you used a Lush cleanser, what one if your favourite?
