Goodbye 2020, Hello 2021

Eeeek, Happy New Year! First blog post of 2021 lets go! Now while 2020 was a complete shit show, it did have many positive moments and taught us to take life at a slower pace and really appreciate the little things which is something I want to continue into the new year, as I, like most of us, have a tendency to take things for granted. That got me thinking about all of the things I want to achieve/focus on in 2021; not necessarily resolutions but just what I want to aim for so here goes:

  • Learn Spanish – I love the language and have been learning it on/off for a while but I want to get as close to fluent as possible
  • To spend more time creating online content – My blog took a bit of a backseat in 2020 so that is definitely going to change but I also want to give more attention to my Youtube channel and Instagram. Creating content online makes me so happy so it is definitely the thing I want to give the most energy and time to this year (make sure you follow me so you don’t miss out ;))
  • Making this my year – I love making the people around me happy and giving them the most support but sometimes I forget to do that to myself so I want to make sure that I am making time for myself and what makes me happy without caring about what people think. Definitely something I should have been doing a long time ago but better late than never right
  • Exploring more of England and the UK – of course this relies massively on where we’re at with restrictions and lockdowns but moving to Staffordshire showed me that we are surrounded by some many beautiful places so I want to have more weekend adventures exploring as many as possible

What are you hoping to achieve in 2021?

Forget New Year’s resolutions

Queue the countless blogposts of people listing things they are going to give up etc. I want to do things differently this year so instead of writing a list of things I’m going to give up like chocolate and alcohol, here’s some things I’m am going to take up or try to do harder so 2020 is the best

1. Take up and language – last year I tried my hardest to get some more Spanish under my belt and I loved it so this year I want to try my luck at Italian. I use the app Duolingo as it gives me daily reminders and it’s so fun and easy!

2. Get back to photography – incase you didn’t know, I have a degree in photography but sadly I only really use it for blog photos so this year I want to start taking my camera out more because it’s literally collecting dust

3. Learn to cook and bake more – I’m actually the worst cook, unless you want fajitas or beans on toast for the rest of your life. So I want to learn some more recipes because I actually really enjoy cooking

Hello 2019

Hello, hello!

Wow, it’s been a while since I last wrote a blog post. To be completely honest, I got pretty used to scheduled posts going up when they were supposed to during Blogmas and of course I wanted to spend some quality time with my loved ones one the holidays.

But here we are, in a whole new year. My welcome to 2019 was perfect; Jack and I had a cosy night in with a home cooked meal, wine, chocolate and movies. I’ve done the whole going away for New Years and going to parties but it’s definitely more about who you’re with then where you are.

During the Christmas break I thought a lot about what I want to get out of 2019 and the biggest thing out of everything is to be happy. The last few months have been a little bit difficult for me as I have been feeling anxious and finding it too easy to see the negative in every situation and I’m tired of living like that. Of course there are going to be bumps in the road but as long as I am happy and surrounded with my favourite people then that’s all I want.

Of course there are some other achievements that I want to hit this year:

– Pick up a language
I say this a lot but I really wise I could speak a different language, I think it is such a fantastic skill to have. I have tried in the past but usually give up and forget to get back into it. This year I want to really work on my Spanish and French

Last year I really made an effort with reading and actually read a lot of good books that I enjoyed and this year I want to do even better. My parents got me a book for Christmas which I have already started so hopefully this sticks

– Grow my blog
I loved taking part in Blogmas and all of the engagement it bought to me and my blog, I really felt part of the blogosphere and I want that more often. I would love to collaborate with other bloggers and brands so hopefully 2019 is the year I can make all of this happen and really grow Hannah’s Little Corner

– Make and document as many memories with my loved ones
For someone with a Photography degree, I really don’t take photos as often as I should so this year I am determined to photography and document as much as possible. I don’t want to forget any other 2019’s great memories

What are your goals for 2019?

2017 Goals

The classic saying goes; new year, new me; and usually I internally cringe when I hear this particular phrase being said, however, I can’t help but think about what I want to achieve from 2017. Normally people always set themselves massive goals, but this year, instead of setting myself an unrealistic resolution, like going to the gym, (which I’m only going to abandon by mid May) I have decided to set myself mini, more attainable goals that I know I will succeed at.

  1. Early Mornings

I’m usually the worst for waking up early when I don’t have anything going on and when I do eventually get out of my bed, I always feel like I have wasted a part of the day. I’m determined to get up early and make the most out of my days, especially on days off or when I don’t start work until later. Although, that being said, the cold, dark mornings are making this quite difficult already.

2. Career Change

Sticking on the theme of work, (bore, I know) I want 2017 to be the year that I finally say goodbye to retail. I actually love where I work and all of the people I work with but I want a Monday- Friday routine and my weekends back, so I can finally have that ‘Friday feeling’.

3. Travel

Bit of a cliche one here, but I’m determined to make 2017 the year of holidays, exploring and mini adventures. I want to go abroad to new places and also explore some of the hidden gems England has to offer. Considering I spent New Years in Scotland, I’d say this one if off to a good start.

4. Blogging

It happens to the best of us but towards the end of 2016 I really lost my blogging mojo, but I have a feeling 2017 is going to be my blogs year and I am planning on getting frequent posts up every week.

5. Be Happy

I have decided that 2017 is the year that I step out of my comfort zone more and care less about what others think. This time next year I want to look back and know that I did everything I possibly wanted to do and more and that I was happy. I have so many great people in my life so I’m pretty sure this is going to be an easy one!

Christmas in London

Christmas is my favourite time of the year and I Love nothing more than going into London to see all the decorations and pretty lights. My top places to go are Oxford Street and Winter Wonderland as they always make me feel the most festive through there decorations, music and complete ambiance.

During the week I went to Oxford Street while one of my best friends was over from Spain. We decided to have the ultimate Christmas day in the city so of course we started off with a trip to Costa to try some of their winter drinks; I opted for the Gingerbread latte as it is my favourite and Alex went for the Honeycomb latte. It was the perfect way to warm up on a brisk Wintery afternoon. We then continued the rest of the day wondering around Oxford street looking at all the lights and decorations that cover the streets.

Every year I try and make it to Winter Wonderland at least once. This year, I went with some of my cousins, mum and one of my aunts. It was such a lovely day browsing the market stalls, listening to Christmas music and drinking lots of mulled wine. I love going during the afternoon and staying till it gets dark so that you can see everything lit up; its so pretty. Working in the dreaded world of retail means that it can be difficult to get into the Christmas spirit but this definitely helped. It was so great to just sit and catch up with my family as we don’t often get to all see each other as much as we’d like. I loved it so much, I’m determined to make it an annual tradition.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
